Community-Powered Athletic Empowerment
HQ Tennis Foundation Inc. is a registered 501(c)(3) tax-exempt public charity operating strictly for charitable, educational, and public benefit purposes under US federal and New York state law. We are an entirely non-commercial organization dedicated to public athletic equity. We do not sell commercial memberships or private tennis lessons; all volunteer energy directly serves neighborhood youth and public recreation spaces across Brooklyn.
The Heart of Brooklyn Community Athletics
At HQ Tennis Foundation Inc., our volunteers are far more than drill facilitators; they are caring adult role models, academic champions, and civic leaders who show Brooklyn youth what is possible through discipline, patience, and mutual respect.
Our volunteer cohort includes former collegiate tennis players, current scholastic varsity competitors, active public school educators, recreational tennis enthusiasts, and neighborhood parents. Whether feeding balls during Saturday morning introductory clinics at Jackie Robinson Park, assisting student-athletes with math homework before practice, or helping maintain nets at Linden Park, every volunteer makes a tangible impact.
We celebrate diversity of background and experience. You do not need to be an ATP or WTA tour veteran to make a transformative difference. If you possess basic tennis proficiency, patience, reliability, and an authentic passion for youth development, our foundation will provide you with full training and certification.

The Rewards of Grassroots Coaching
"Volunteering with HQ Tennis Foundation Inc. at Lincoln Terrace Park has been one of the most fulfilling experiences of my life. Seeing an eight-year-old child who initially struggled to hit a balloon graduate to rallying ten consecutive balls with a partner is indescribably powerful. You’re not just teaching forehands; you’re teaching focus, perseverance, and emotional pride."
— Sarah Jenkins, Volunteer Coach & Brooklyn Resident
"As a retired high school teacher, helping young athletes with algebra before their tennis practice lets me stay connected to youth in our community. The foundation creates a family atmosphere where everyone supports each other. It’s the best part of my week."
Continuing Education & Mentor Roundtables
We invest in the personal and professional growth of our volunteer cohort through free pedagogical seminars, sports science workshops, and peer mentorship sessions.
Trauma-Informed Coaching & De-Escalation
Many urban youth navigate complex external stressors, including economic hardship, neighborhood disruption, and academic anxiety. Our foundation sponsors bi-monthly professional development workshops led by licensed adolescent therapists and sports psychologists.
Volunteers learn evidence-based strategies for recognizing stress triggers, practicing active listening, fostering emotional safety on court, and using sports as a healthy emotional release. These skills make our volunteers exceptionally compassionate coaches and community leaders.
Corporate & Civic Group Volunteer Workdays
Does your civic organization, local business, or community group want to give back to Brooklyn? HQ Tennis Foundation Inc. hosts structured weekend Team Stewardship Days across our public park sites.
Our fieldwork coordinators organize high-impact service projects, including group net repairs, perimeter court power-sweeping, and running family obstacle courses during our community festivals. It is an extraordinary opportunity to build team cohesion while making an immediate physical difference in neighborhood recreational facilities.
