Our curriculum is calibrated across age-appropriate skill tiers, ensuring every participant receives instruction matched to their physical, psychological, and kinetic capabilities.

Grassroots Discovery Track

The Grassroots Discovery Track introduces elementary school youth to athletic movement through modified court geometry, low-compression red balls, and lightweight racquets. Coaches focus on eye-hand coordination, balance, basic rally skills, and cooperative partner games. Sessions run Tuesday and Thursday afternoons at Jackie Robinson Park and Linden Park.

All racquets and balls are furnished at zero expense. Our goal is sparking enduring joy for athletic movement in an inclusive, pressure-free public park setting.

Players train with orange and green-dot balls to master shot trajectory, depth control, and doubles positioning.

Classes incorporate structured agility ladder drills and core rotational exercises to build endurance while instilling emotional composure during match tiebreaks.

Civic Wellness

Free Saturday Community & Family Tennis Clinics

Every Saturday morning between April and November, HQ Tennis Foundation Inc. opens the courts at Lincoln Terrace Park for our signature Community Family Clinics. Designed to promote neighborhood health, cardiovascular fitness, and intergenerational bonding, these clinics welcome parents, guardians, grandparents, and youth to learn and play together.

Volunteer coaches lead dynamic warm-ups, group cardio-tennis games, and fundamental stroke tutorials. Novice adults who have never held a tennis racquet receive patient, step-by-step guidance alongside their children. We provide all equipment, chilled hydration stations, and healthy post-clinic fruit refreshments.

These clinics embody the true spirit of a 501(c)(3) public charity: transforming a municipal recreation space into an energetic hub of neighborhood camaraderie, stress relief, and shared wellness with zero commercial barriers.

Public Infrastructure

Municipal Court Revitalization & Equipment Bank

Organized athletic clinics cannot thrive without safe, well-maintained courts. Through our Court Stewardship Initiative, our foundation actively identifies public tennis courts in Brooklyn parks that have suffered municipal neglect, cracked surfaces, or damaged nets.

In cooperation with park administrators and local community boards, our fieldwork crew deploys volunteer workdays to clean debris, repair perimeter fencing, replace damaged net posts, and install brand-new, regulation-height heavy-duty nets. To date, we have revitalized eight public courts across Jackie Robinson, Linden, and Lincoln Terrace parks.

Additionally, we maintain an on-site Free Equipment Bank at each clinic location. Children who lack their own racquets can borrow professional-grade junior racquets for the duration of the season. At the conclusion of our multi-week training cycle, youth who demonstrate consistent attendance, sportsmanship, and academic effort are awarded their racquet permanently to take home.

  2. Step 2: Participant Orientation & Sizing: Our staff arranges a brief, welcoming orientation where the child is fitted for appropriate racquet length, receives safety orientation, and undergoes a low-pressure diagnostic rally to determine optimal division placement.
  3. Step 3: Season Participation & Equipment Assignment: The participant receives their program uniform shirt, assigned training days, and permanent equipment access. Zero fees are required from qualifying families, with all costs covered by foundation grant subsidies.
Seasonal Intensive

Six-Week Summer Youth Athletic & Literacy Camp

During July and August, when school is out of session and working parents face acute childcare challenges, HQ Tennis Foundation Inc. operates our comprehensive Summer Youth Athletic & Literacy Camp. Hosted across public facilities at Lincoln Terrace Park and Jackie Robinson Park, this full-day initiative provides more than one hundred Brooklyn children with a safe, active, and mentally stimulating summer haven.

Each camp day combines morning intensive tennis drills and kinetic conditioning with midday nutritious boxed lunches provided in partnership with municipal meal programs. Afternoon hours feature interactive STEM enrichment, reading circles, and guest presentations from local community leaders, including sports journalists, physical therapists, and collegiate student-athletes.

By offering a rich blend of athletics and academic retention activities, our summer camp prevents summertime learning loss while keeping children engaged in positive physical recreation. Tuition is fully subsidized through foundation grants and institutional donations, ensuring that socioeconomic constraints never exclude a child from this transformative summer experience.

Universal Accessibility

Adaptive Tennis & Sensory-Friendly Play

True community utility requires that sports programming welcomes individuals of all abilities. HQ Tennis Foundation Inc. is proud to offer dedicated Adaptive Tennis clinics engineered specifically for children and young adults with physical, developmental, and neurodivergent differences, including autism spectrum disorder and ADHD.

Our adaptive sessions feature certified instructors trained in therapeutic recreation and sensory integration. We incorporate high-contrast yellow foam balls, auditory bell-balls for visually impaired participants, tactile ground boundary markers, and lower-ratio coach-to-student environments that minimize overwhelming sensory stimuli.

Parents often describe our adaptive sessions as one of the few community spaces where their children feel completely understood, accepted, and celebrated. By adapting the rules, equipment, and pacing of the game, we ensure that the joy of striking a tennis ball is universally shared.

Leadership Pipeline

Junior Coach Fellowship & Youth Leadership

Empowering the next generation of Brooklyn coaches, mentors, and community sports organizers.

From Clinic Participant to Certified Community Leader

One of the greatest achievements of HQ Tennis Foundation Inc. is our Junior Coach Fellowship. High school student-athletes who have trained in our programs for at least two consecutive seasons are invited to apply for this competitive leadership initiative.

Fellows participate in a comprehensive 40-hour mentorship program where they learn youth athletic pedagogical theory, court safety management, first-aid fundamentals, and emotional intelligence in sports leadership. Upon completing their training, fellows serve as paid junior assistant coaches during our weekend Grassroots clinics, mentoring younger elementary children from their own Brooklyn neighborhoods.

This leadership pipeline creates an enduring cycle of positive reinforcement. Younger children look up to teen coaches who share their background, while the fellows gain invaluable work experience, leadership resumes for college applications, and a profound sense of civic duty to reinvest their talents in Brooklyn.
